The due date of the movie Mimi featuring Kriti Sanon for release was 30th July but a pirated copy of Mimi got viral on the internet and so the producers had constrained to deliver it before the due date. But this baby born before the due date is healthier than any normal baby. Mimi is an authorized remake of the Marathi movie ‘Mala AaiVhaychay’. Released on Netflix and Jio Cinema, Mimi would be proved a good quality Hindi movie of 2021.
The simple story of the movie includes Mimi (Kriti Sanon), a dancer in a five-star hotel in Rajasthan entertaining tourists who is the only daughter of the father (Manoj Pahwa) and mother (Supriya Pathak). Muslim girl named Shama (Sai Tamhankar) is a good friend of Mimi. Mimi’s only dream in life is to become a heroine in Bollywood and for that, she needs a lot of money. One day Bhanu Pratap Pandey (Pankaj Tripathi), a taxi driver, arrives in the town of Mimi with a foreign couple. She accepts the offer of twenty lac rupees to bring her dream of Bollywood into reality. After pregnancy, it gets revealed that the baby to be born would be mentally challenged.
After this, the foreigner couple refuses to accept the responsibility of the child and leaves India. Mimi gets a great shock and her pregnancy, which is hidden from society, comes to light one day. The next part of the story is worth watching on screen.
Produced, directed, and written by Samruddhi Pore, the Original Marathi movie ‘Mala AaiVhaychay’ was honored with a National award for best Marathi movie of 2011. After Marathi movies Tapaal, Laalbagchi Rani and Hindi movie Luka Chhupi, director Lakshman Utekar has directed Mimi. It was rightly predicted after watching its trailer before a month that it would be a good movie and it gets assured within the initial first ten minutes. Thanks to An unusual story, humor is created with good dialogues and sensitive direction. In recent Hindi movies, innocent humor is hard to find and it has become very rare since the arrival of OTT. Among the flood of vulgar scenes and black comedy, it is worth credibility for the director to present his creativity through this sensitive movie and Lakshman Utekar must be given credit for this. The dialogue writer Rohan Shankar who has written script with him is equally eligible for appreciation.
Quality and appropriate humor bring a smile to your face and the emotional scenes bring tears to your eyes and this is the strength of the movie. The laughter till the interval gets serious afterward keeping the viewer’s interest alive. It is undisputed that Mimi will be a milestone movie in the career of Kriti. She has acted with much strength the role assigned to her.
It is a treat to watch Kriti as an innocent, joyful Mimi and then a serious matured Mimi after becoming a mother. What to say about Pankaj Tripathi? he is a rare example of how much should be the level of involvement in a character and what you call ease in acting.
Bhanu Pandey by Pankaj is just amazing. The story revolves around the heroine and there is no hero to the film but non – glamorous non – filmy no hero material Pankaj fills the space of a hero despite being a character artist. Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar has acted very well as shama who always supports and helps Mimi. Manoj Pahwa and Supriya Pathak as parents of Mimi are very appropriate at their place.
After many days, in fact, years, we can enjoy the music by A. R. Rahman which brings a beautiful musical treat with meaningful and suitable lyrics by creative poet Amitabh Bhattacharya. The cinematography, background score, and other technical aspects are also good.
Mimi is a sweet, cultured, beautiful, healthy child of Samruddhi Pore (Maker of Mala AaiVhaychay), director Lakshman Utekar, dialogue writer Rohan Shankar, Kriti Sanon, and Pankaj Tripathi.
It has been just delivered, mother and child are very well and soon they may come your home on television, but it is requested and suggested that before the child comes to your home, you should visit and watch it on Netflix or Jio Cinema maternity hospital.
