Talking about his first film, Saawan Kumar told ‘The Hindu’ in a 2012 interview, ‘I came to Mumbai from Jaipur in 1965 to become an actor. After trying my luck at two or three studios when I couldn’t get a break, I decided to start over. I requested my sister to give me a loan of Rs 25,000 for the production of the film. My sisters refused but my brother-in-law agreed. That’s why I created Naunihal.
