Story Line: The 83 Film is all about the India’s Journey at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. It was held from 9 to 25 June 1983 in England and Wales and was won by India.
Remarks: Without paying much attention to how the 1983 World Cup took place, which teams were there, how their matches were played, etc., director Kabir Khan focused only on the matches of the Indian team in Group B, the semi-finals and then the final bus in their group in this World Cup. It is very fast, beautiful and very effective portrayal by Director Kabir Khan. The real challenge is to turn the story into a screenplay that keeps the audience hooked, knowing that your team has finally won the final. But the journey has been made very interesting by the script and highly effective dialogues that reveal the characteristics of each player in the team.
Performances: Main Winners to remember are Kapil Dev (Ranveer Singh), Sunil Gavaskar (Tahir Raj Bhasin), K Srikanth (Jiva), Mohinder Amarnath (Sakeb Salim), Yashpal Sharma (Jatin Sarna), Balwinder Sandhu (Amy Virk), Roger Binny (Nishant Dahiya) and Syed Kirmani (Sahil Khattar). No words are enough to describe how beautifully Ranveer has played the role of Kapil Dev. This is a milestone role in Ranveer’s career and for this Ranveer will have to go through many awards. Hats off! Team Manager Man Singh, portrayed by Pankaj Tripathi, is another character in the movie who will make you fall in love with him. Seeing Pankaj Tripathi speaking Hindi in a special Hyderabadi tone is like a cherry on a beautiful cake called 83. Deepika Padukone in the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Bhatia has taken care that she will feel her presence even in a small role. Adinath Kothare (Dilip Vengsarkar), Dhairya Karwa (Ravi Shastri), Chirag Patil (Sandeep Patil), Dinkar Sharma (Kirti Azad), Hardy Sandhu (Madan Lal) have all done justice to their roles.
While i don’t find any need for paying much attention to other departments of this film like music, background music, cinematography etc. while watching a movie but still the movie managed to receive marks of merit in this too.
Final Word: In my opinion there are two major religions in India .. one is cricket and the other is cinema. There are millions of staunch followers of these two religions in India. These are religions that bring everyone together. Sit together .. laugh together .. cry together. Players and actors are like gods to these followers. Even if you are a follower of one of the above two religions, the movie 83 is a holy place of worship for you like a temple or a mosque and if you follow both religions just as much then the movie 83 is a pilgrimage for you. Masterpiece! Don’t Only Watch … Have This Feel!
