Cirkus Movie Review

Cirkus Movie Review

Movie and Plot Summary – The story of two twin brothers based on Shakespeare’s well-known play Comedy of Errors. This plot from the 1960s. There are two orphaned twins. One is Roy (Rohit Shetty) and the other is Joy (Varun Sharma). Roy and Joy have one pair in Ooty and the other in Bangalore. Of course, both of them have no idea that they also have twin brothers. As the plot progresses, these two begin to unravel the strange happenings that happen to them. Naturally, the main hero, Roy, will also have two heroines in two different locations. Roy’s wife from Ooty is Mala (Pooja Hegde) and Roy’s girlfriend from Ooty is Bindu (Jacqueline).

What’s special?- Like all Rohit Shetty’s previous films, every frame of this film is colorful (more than necessary). The get-ups of the lead actors from the 60s and the overall retro look of the film is great to see. The Only actor Sanjay Sanjay Mishra has brought the fun. The dialogues good at some places.

What is New?- Nothing. This is the 2022 version of Angoor which Gulzar Sahib made 40 years ago i.e. in 1982 with Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma. So there is nothing new except Cirkus background.

Where does it fall short? – In many places. In many places. The pace of the screenplay which is basically very predictable is very slow. Rohit Shetty’s direction is equally boring. The comedy is not even 10% compared to Rohit’s previous films. The Music and lyrics are disappointing. Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline and Varun all have very mediocre performances. Instead, Siddharth Jadhav and Sanjay Mishra bring the fun. Action scenes have absolutely no place in the script so don’t expect to flying cars in the air like Rohit’s other films.

Whether to watch or not? – No. Even when it comes on OTT, prepare mentally that you are going to watch a very average quality movie.

Star Rating – The question is why to give at least two. But anyway. Rohit has made this movie with the good intention of getting work for his team during the covid lock-down period. So two stars.
