Hit-The First Case Hindi Movie Review

A Telugu film that came out in February, a month before the first covid lock-down of 2020, unexpectedly won the hearts of both critics and audiences. Unexpectedly, since the director of the movie was a newbie i.e. a first timer and the actors were not veterans, there were few expectations. ‘Hit-The First Case’ is the name of that Telugu movie. This is Telugu actor Vishvak Sen’s fourth film as the hero and director Sailesh Kolanu’s first time as a director. But the screenplay was strong enough to impress the critics first and then the audience as well. However, it was somewhat neglected later in the chaos of the lock down. Because of its success at the box office, they decided it to remake it in Hindi and they also started immediately the second part in Telugu. The official Hindi remake of this movie with the same name has been released today. Moreover, the second part of this in Telugu language is releasing on July 29. The Hindi remake released today stars Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles and is directed by Sailesh Kolanu. The screenplay of the movie, which falls into the genre of action thriller or suspense thriller, will keep you glued to the chair from start to end.

Plot in brief. Vikram (Rajukmmar Rao) is a highly intelligent and highly capable police officer in the ‘Homicide Intervention Team’ (HIT) of the Crime Investigation Department in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He is in love with Neha (Sanya Malhotra), his colleague and forensic officer. Vikram had an unfortunate incident earlier in his life which led Vikram to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder which Neha helps him to overcome. Vikram has taken a vacation to his hometown to escape from this tension, when suddenly an incident takes place. A young woman named Preeti suddenly goes missing while traveling in her car on the Jaipur Express Highway. While searching for her continues, after two months Vikram gets a call from his colleague and he informs Vikram that Neha is also missing for some days. The ground shifts under Vikram’s feet. Vikram immediately returns and takes the case himself after realizing that the reason and person behind Preeti and Neha’s disappearance may be the same. After a few days, Preeti’s body is found but Neha is nowhere to be found. The next part of the story is how Vikram moves forward and how the complications in the case increase.

The screenplay length of Hit is only 2 hours and 15 minutes. The dramatic, shocking and fast-paced sequence of events unfolding one after the other in these two and a half hours does not give you a moment to think. Sailesh Kolanu, who is a first timer as a director and screenwriter, has to be appreciated for this. Such perfection is not expected at all from a fresher. Sailesh has been extremely successful in keeping the curiosity of what the mystery of the story will be till the last frame of the very last scene of the film. Writer-Director blended action and Thrill elements in required mixture. Actor Rajkummar Rao has complimented director Sailesh’s hard work with his superb acting talent. Rajkumar’s hard work in portraying his character Vikram is clearly visible in every scene. Especially the scene when he has bouts of mental disorder. Hats off again to you Rajkumar for this role after your previous total of one role! Sanya Malhotra’s role got little work. Among other actors, Dilip Tahil, Milind Gunaji, Shilpa Shukla and Jatin Goswami also have to appreciate the performances. Girish Kohli’s dialogues are impressive. John Stewart has provided the background music that is necessary to increase the mystery of suspense films and maintain the thrill. The story doesn’t seem to require much lyrics and the music although composers Mithun and Manan Bhardwaj does the job of laying the planks. At the end of the film, a sudden shot by an unknown person on the protagonist heralds the second part. The reason behind the murders that unfolds at the end of the film may not appeal to some viewers or may seem odd.

What is special about the suspense of the HIT is how cleanly a new director has nailed it. Rajkummar Rao’s top notch performance will also be a major reason not to miss the film. If possible, in theaters, otherwise when it comes on OTT.
