Veteran actor Satish Kaul, who has acted in several Hindi films and shows including BR Chopra’s Mahabharat, died after a battle with Covid-19. He was 74. Satish Kaul breathed his last in Ludhiana. He has acted in over 300 Hindi and Punjabi films and has worked with Bollywood actors such as Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and Shahrukh Khan amongst others. His notable film roles include ones in Sassi Punnu, Ishq Nimana, Suhag Chooda and Patola.
The actor had spoken to PTI last year about his financial woes, which he had mentioned had only gotten worse due to coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown. “I’m struggling for medicines, groceries and basic needs. I appeal to the industry people to help me. I got so much love as an actor, I need some attention now as a human in need,” the actor had said.
Satish Kaul won the “lifetime achievement” award for his contribution to Punjabi Cinema at PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2011. He was also seen in some Bollywood films like Karma, Prem Parbat, Warrant, Gunaho Ka Faisla, Bhakti Me Shakti, Dance Dance, Ram Lakhan and Pyar To Hona Hi Tha.
He was not able to cure himself medically. In January 2019, a social welfare society was trying to take him to Bathinda, to help him recover. In 2019, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had helped the actor with Rs 5 lakh.
